A LARGE turnout of Teries and Borderers is expected to crowd into the town’s civic space tonight to witness The One Show’s host Matt Baker arrive on a rickshaw live on air.

The One Show team was arriving this morning to begin preparing for the five minute live link to the Heart of Hawick venue at 7pm, when the BBC frontman will complete the first day of a cycle challenge for Children in Need.

Greens players, cycling club members and high school pupils will be amongst those at the finish line – and the Saxhorn Band is due to feature playing a Take That song, to coincide with Gary Barlow being a guest in the London studio.

A spokesperson for the Heart of Hawick said: “We are really looking forward to welcoming Matt Baker tonight and have had a lot of interest in it, it’s great for the town. Plans are subject to change but at the top of the show they plan for Matt arriving, then will return to Hawick later on.”

Hawick Rotary Club will be stewarding, and Beanscene will supply the crew with complimentary tea and coffee.
