Complaints have been made about people in Burnfoot running businesses from houses in the scheme, writes Jason Marshall.
That’s according to Hawick and Denholm councillor Watson McAteer whose monthly report to Tuesday night’s Burnfoot Community Council meeting threw the spotlight on the problem.
He told members: “It’s a difficult one because people are working and earning, and you’ve got to applaud them for doing that.
“The trouble is that in some cases we are getting motor repair-type activity taking place which is becoming very disruptive, with oil spills and noise.
“So it’s about trying to find a balance, and it’s up to the social landlords to police that. But to be fair, they’ve been engaged on it. It’s not widespread, but it’s one to keep a bit of an eye on.”
