Hogmanay drink-driver pays price by losing car

A MOTORIST had his car forfeited after being found to be driving while more than three times the legal alcohol limit on Hogmanay.

Dale Minto had been out drinking with friends when he decided to move his vehicle to a car park but was involved in an accident in Princes Street on Saturday.

The 40-year-old, of Howden-bank, pleaded guilty after appearing from custody at Jedburgh Sheriff Court to driving a vehicle with a breath/alcohol limit of 114 micogrammes – the legal limit being 35.

Sheriff Donald Corke deferred sentence until February 9 for background reports and imposed an interim driving ban. He also agreed to a Crown motion for forfeiture of the vehicle.
