Hawick Scout Fellowship Pipe Band members are busy practising ahead of their participation in Edinburgh’s renowned Hogmanay celebrations.

The band will be one of four to lead the torchlight procession from George IV Bridge to Carlton Hill on December 30 – one of many events in the capital to herald 2016.

Pipe Major Michael Bruce was thrilled to be asked to play at the event.

He told the Hawick News: “The Edinburgh torchlight procession is one of our annual highlights.

“We have performed there since the Millennium and are delighted to be asked back. The sheer number of spectators is enormous, they come from all over the world to experience Hogmanay in Scotland, and we are proud to be at the centre of the event.”

The four bands will join to form a large mass band to playing well-known classics.
