Grieve welcomes Labour Party chief to Borders

HAWICK and Denholm Labour candidate Michael Grieve welcomed party leader Johann Lamont to a meeting last Monday night.

The Leishman Place resident, standing for election to Scottish Borders Council in May, chaired the meeting of members gathered to hear Mrs Lamont at the Salmon Inn, Galashiels.

He said: “I was pleased to hear Johann saying about devolving power not just from Westminster to Holyrood but about devolving power from Holyrood to local authorities and down to local people. I was also pleased that Johann chose a Borders constituency to speak to first to prove that the people matter to the Labour Party at all levels.”
