Haughhead-based Emtelle UK Ltd has been declared a champion of business sustainability at the 16th annual Vision in Business for the Environment of Scotland (VIBES) Awards.
Emtelle, which specialises in the manufacture and supply of telecommunications, was named winner of the management (large) award at the ceremony held yesterday (Sunday) in Edinburgh’s Sheraton Hotel. This is the second time the Hawick firm has received a VIBES Award, having previously lifted the medium company accolade in 2007.
The VIBES Awards is Scotland’s leading environmental awards scheme which recognises businesses that contribute to the country’s sustainable development by reducing their impact on the environment.
John Bathgate, Emtelle’s environmental manager, said: “We’re delighted to have won this VIBES award. It is a real reflection of the commitment from our staff and their attitude towards reducing our environmental impact. We continue to enter these awards as they provide stiff competition and to win one means that our performance is at the benchmark level in Scotland.”
