Johnstons of Elgin has been awarded five-star Visitor Attraction status through VisitScotland’s Quality Assurance Scheme.

The cafe and visitor centre in Mansfield Road, which was opened earlier this year, has been rated “exceptional” by the national tourism organisation.

Paula McDonald, regional director of VisitScotland, told the Hawick News this week: “We are delighted to award Johnstons of Elgin with our five star Visitor Attraction award.

“This is in recognition of their commitment to tourism in terms of customer service and providing a quality tourism attraction which is key to attracting both new businesses and retaining repeat visitors.”

And George McNeil, Johnstons of Elgin managing director – retail division – said they were delighted to have been recognised with the accolade. He added: “We continually invest in customer service training and ensure all our staff are developed to the required standard, and again this award is in recognition of their hard work.”
