HAWICK-based engineering firm Turnbull & Scott is further proving its commitment to the town by advertising for two new apprentices.

Having just recently confirmed a £250,000 move from Commercial Road to the former Slumberdown factory as part of plans to expand the business, the company is now on the lookout for two new trainees.

Keith Anderson, Production Manager (pictured), told the Hawick News: “As part of our expansion at Burnfoot, and our ongoing commitment to manufacturing in the Borders, we are again recruiting apprentices this year.”

Highlighting that two employees, Gary Muir and Graeme Tinlin, have already successfully graduated from the firm’s apprentice programme this year, Mr Anderson stated: “We are delighted to say they are still with us.”

And added: “We have a further two apprentices in the programme due to qualify in 2012, and so we felt the need to replenish this pipeline of local talent.

“The successful candidates will spend a year working full time for us before attending college in Edinburgh full time next year and one day per week for the following three years. They will then graduate with HNC’s in mechanical and electrical engineering.”
