The family of a woman who died in a house fire in Fisher Avenue earlier this month has thanked Teries for giving her such a friendly welcome.
The body of 45-year-old Kelly Faulkner, originally from Surrey, was found at her home after three appliances from Hawick and Selkirk battled the blaze. The fire was deemed to be non-suspicious.
Kelly’s brother Richard Faulkner said: “We wish to extend our gratitude to those people that risked their own life in trying to save her, and also for the help and support provided by the authorities at this time.
“Kelly enjoyed her life in the community of Hawick and this has been borne out by the kind words from neighbours and friends on our visit to Hawick.”
“A service for Kelly has been arranged for Friday, May 6, at 1.30pm at Beatties Funeral Directors, followed by a cremation at Melrose. All friends are welcome to join us.”
