Fines handed out to rogue dog owners

SIX FIXED Penalty Notice tickets were issued in Hawick during March.

The figures were revealed this week in a report from the SB Wardens to Hawick Community Council.

Dog owners failing to pick up after their pets were caught and fined in the grounds of Burnfoot Community School, Mansfield Crescent, High Street, Sandbed and Bright Street.

The two wardens, who cover Teviot and Liddesdale and Eildon South, dealt with a total of 23 complaints.

Fifteen of these were regarding dog fouling, four for antisocial behaviour and four litter/fly-tipping.

In his monthly report to the meeting SB Warden Colin Mitchell said: “As always we would urge the public to come forward with information concerning dog fouling and any other issues they may have.”
