This summer’s Hawick Walking Festival will take place during the first weekend in July.
The event features a range of walks led by members, and the walk centre will be located in St Mary’s and Old Parish Church hall in Buccleuch Street.
Last year’s festival was a huge success with more than half of the 130 participants coming from the Borders and the rest from other parts of the UK, including one from Essex and another from Austria.
Festival chairman Andrew Farquhar said: “Many of last year’s visitors stayed in or around Hawick and most are expected to return this year.
“The date for this year has been changed to avoid the annual Borders Walking Festival which is due to be held in Denholm and Jedburgh in September. The local economy certainly benefited and we hope it will grow year by year as word gets round.”
Teas will be available before and after walks and transport will be arranged for walks to outlying locations. A ceilidh/concert will take place in the walk centre on the Saturday evening, with a ranger presentation planned for the Sunday evening.
