Diners are set to savour a taste of Hawick’s medieval past at this month’s Reivers Banquet.
A sumptuous menu of traditional fayre – including broth, roast meats and clootie dumpling – will be served by High Street butcher Lindsay Grieve at the Reivers Festival event in the Old Baths on Friday, March 25.
A spokesperson said: “This will be our third banquet and if the last two are anything to go by, the food by Lindsay will see everyone well satis- fied.”
Entertainment is by ACT1, the Hawick-based youth theatre group, who will also take on the role of hosts for the evening. Part of the youngsters’ show will include a special production of ‘The Reivers Rat’, while well-known local musician Dave Finnie has written a song for the children to perform.
The festival spokesperson added: “Though all forms of dress are welcome, banquet guests are invited to get into the reiving spirit and dress for the part. Nothing elaborate is required or folk can just bring along their sword or helmet to defend their Borderlands!”
Tickets are £15 (£6 primary school children) from Dorward’s, ILF or www.borderevents.com
