Scores of Hawick residents are being evacuated from their homes amid growing fears of another flooding incident.
Speaking to the Hawick News at 7.30am today (Wednesday), flood group chairman Stuart Marshall said: “Mansfield, Duke Street and Sandbed are evacuating to the leisure centre.
“Some people don’t want to be evacuated, so we’re just trying to make them watertight.”
Mr Marshall added: “We’re expecting a huge [rise in the] water in a couple of hours. The Borders’ mountain rescue team are out helping, as are members of our flood group.
“I would say were are going to get flooding, but I don’t think it will be on the scale of December 5. But we can’t take any chances after what’s happened [over the last month].”
