CHILDREN, staff and parents at Drumlanrig school have been busy planning a variety of activities to raise money for Callum Murray and the Edinburgh Sick Kids’ Hospital, where he is currently being treated for leukaemia.

The popular primary 3/4 pupil has inspired the school to raise £338 at a dress down day, for which the theme was ‘sporty people’, as Callum is a keen sportsperson. While staff members Mrs Whillans, Mrs Berridge, Mrs Robertson, Mrs Wood and Mrs Smith realised £132 through the sale of cup cakes.

Hawick Rugby Club also held a sponsored rugby pass in the school, with coach Rocky Johnstone challenging the children to see who could make the most passes – which so far has raised over £600. Pictured at that event is Isla Murray with Keith Davies, Callum’s brother Hamish with Rory Hutton, and Ben McCreadie with Andrew Bowles.

And tomorrow night the school will welcome more than 150 people for a Stevie T Band concert and disco at 7.30pm. Tickets from the school office on 373521. Contributions to fund-raising can also be taken at the school office.
