A HAWICK motorist has been left furious after pot holes split his new alloy wheels.

Brian Milligan had paid £800 for the Racing Fox alloys for his Ford Focus.

But he claims pot holes have caused two great cracks in them.

He said: “I was driving out of Burnfoot when I heard a loud bang and the tyre burst because the cracks in the wheel. Everywhere you go there’s pot holes and that’s what’s caused it. Now I’ve to buy a new set and they’re not cheap.”

A spokesperson for Scottish Borders Council conceded: “We recognise the frustration that drivers experience with potholes but obviously the past few winters have taken their toll and in the current financial climate there is simply just not enough funding available to do everything that we would like to do.”
