THE trial by jury of a serving soldier accused of two assaults in a pub has been put off until September.
Scott McQuillin is charged with assaulting a man to his severe injury and permanent impairment in the Drumlanrig Bar on June 20.
The 35-year-old, based at Dreghorn barracks in Edinburgh, is also accused of assaulting another male during the same incident.
Mr McQuillin has pleaded not guilty to both charges and he has lodged a special defence of self-defence.
The trial was due to go ahead at Jedburgh Sheriff Court on Wednesday this week but due to the non-availability of an essential Crown witness the case was subsequently adjourned to the jury sitting starting on September 13.
