A disabled woman who relies on her small dog to alert her to oncoming seizures claims she was treated “appallingly” by town hall staff this week.
Sarah Duncan, who lives at Backdamgate, visited the council contact centre on Tuesday to enquire about a food waste bin for an elderly neighbour.
She was accompanied by her five-year-old service dog Nicholas who not only alerts Mrs Duncan when she is about to have a fit but also helps her around the home.
When she entered the building she claims she was stopped in an abrupt manner by a girl who asked her: “Have you read the notice on the door. It’s guide dogs only in here.”
