Diesel theft from Denholm pub

A THEFT of 1,000 litres of heating oil from a tank in Denholm was discovered to be a false alarm this week.

Police reported that the Text House in the village had been targeted by thieves this week, but it was later revealed that levels had been read incorrectly.

However, the village’s Cross Keys pub has been left counting the cost of a heating fuel theft.

Local community PC Brian Murray told the Hawick News: “Between mid-January and mid-February a substantial amount of kerosene heating fuel has been stolen from the rear of the premises.

“We are again urging people to be vigilant and ensure their oil is secure.”
