Teries in Tartan have a busy year ahead, and the 20-plus group of young singers, dancers and musicians aged 8-18 is heading to Lithuania for a week in June as guests of a youth dance group based in the city of Kaunas.

Then, from August 12-17, the Hawick youngsters will offer hospitality to their Lithuanian friends, as well as a group from Leuven in Belgium. In total, there will be 60 foreign guests staying with host families in the town.

While each member is paying for their own trip to Lithuania, the group is busy fund-raising for the festival in Hawick and has organised a coffee morning in Trinity church hall, tomorrow, from 10am to noon.

While most of the visitors will be staying with group members, Teries in Tartan is seeking more host families in Hawick and if anyone is interested in helping out, please contact Cath Elliott-Walker or any other group member.
