Curtain set to rise on film festival for schools

THE world’s largest film festival for schools is returning to Hawick with a special screening in Tower Mill.

As part of National Schools Film Week – which has become an annual, nationwide event – young Teries are being invited to watch Cars 2 on November 3. And teachers are being urged to ensure they book their pupils a seat.

After participating last year, Stirches teacher Stacey Russell said: “The children enjoyed being out of school and some of our pupils hadn’t visited the cinema before, so they benefited from the new experience.”

The festival’s goal is to support teaching by a powerful experience for students that links to elements of the curriculum, supported by an online library of resources.
