A woman has been sentenced to an 18-month Community Payback Order, and a total of 270 hours’ unpaid work, after she bought alcohol for a child.
Emma Elliot, 24, of Princes Street, admitted buying a half-bottle of Buckfast for a 12-year-old at the Co-op supermarket, Kenilworth Avenue, on September 30, 2011. Elliot’s solicitor said his client had been “under a significant degree of pressure” to buy the alcohol, although appreciated she had acted irresponsibly. She was sentenced to an 18-month Community Payback Order, with 120 hours of unpaid work.
Elliot also received a Community Payback Order, and a further 150 hours of unpaid work after she admitted resetting a stolen mobile phone in Melrose Court on May 8 last year.
