Police have arrested and charged three men – aged 30, 27 and 19 – in connection with an assault and robbery in Howegate on Sunday.
A 22-year-old man sustained a serious head injury and was taken to Borders General Hospital where he received treatment.
The 30-year-old was also charged in connection with break-ins to two business premises in Hawick, which occurred between Saturday and Sunday, August 29-30.
Sergeant Mark Cranston said: “These types of crimes will not be tolerated in our community and officers conducted robust enquiries in order to trace the suspects swiftly.
“I hope this sends a clear message that we will pursue all lines of enquiry to ensure perpetrators are brought before the courts.”
