The experimental one-way system at Langlands Road is to become permanent.
Following concerns from residents regarding vehicle speed, an investigation recommended the implementation of a temporary one-way trial.
But at last week’s Teviot and Liddesdale Area Forum, councillors backed the move to make the one-way system permanent.
Speaking to the Hawick News, ward councillor Stuart Marshall said: “At last week’s area forum, we were in unanimous agreement to go with the officer’s recommendations of making this permanent.
“Both Councillor McAteer and myself highlighted to officers that there are still one or two issues that need to be addressed and roads officials have agreed to meet us.
“Some 65 per cent of the residents in Langlands Road expressed their preference for a one-way , and a vast majority also said that the trial was improving things. But both Watson and I are conscious that there are one or two issues still to look into .”
