Choir hitting high notes once again

Making its way through its ninth decade as a musical asset to the town the Hawick PSA Male Voice Choir has embarked on another season of rehearsal and practice on Wednesday evenings up at Drumlanrig School where the musical director Ann Witherington is currently putting the next season’s programme together to entertain the supporters of the choir and music lovers across Hawick and the Borders.

The choir is made up of around 30 singers, both tenor and bass, and while being able to read music is useful it isn’t necessary as plenty of tuition and help is given in the pleasant practice sessions throughout the winter. The choir is as much about comradeship and friendship as about music but recent years have shown the professional finish that Ann has veneered on her singers.

The PSA Choir is always looking for new faces and if you do sing bass or tenor and fancy going along to Drumlanrig School on a Wednesday evening about 7.30 p.m., even for one night to see how it works for you, please come along and join in or give Ann a ring on 373056 for more details.
