THE Hawick branch of the British Heart Foundation charity shop has launched its ‘bagathon’ campaign and aims to be named the best in the Borders and beyond.
The campaign encourages donors to give items for sale in their local shop, with the target of that outlet being able to generate the highest amount in proceeds and win a regional and national contest.
Shop manager Jackie Blackie and staff at the store will hand out five hundred bags during the campaign.
Ms Blackie said: “We are desperate for money, so we’re challenge people to bring in one or many bags and get groups to come on board so it’s not just one person doing all the collecting.
“It’s a fun thing to do – and you get your house cleared at the same time. We need more stock, and it’s about saving lives at the same time.
“We are going to try and hand out five hundred bags for people to fill. It’s quite a lot for a small town, but if everyone brought something in, they would be helping keep the shop afloat.”
