Blooming “slap in the face” for volunteers

The Hawick in Bloom planters on High Street were vandalised recently and according to Community Council boss Marion Short it’s “a real slap in the face” for the volunteers who brighten up the town.

The matter was discussed at Monday night’s Community Council meeting in the Town Hall.

Marion Short said the planters had been targeted more than once and added: “This is a real slap in the face. There volunteers all work hard and these will have to be re-done before the end of the month for the Floral Gateway judging the latest incident saw the plants pulled out and thrown away, some were stolen and the begonias were sat on.”
