Birneyknowe turbine plans to go on public display

LOCALS are being invited to attend a public exhibition being staged by the wind farm developer proposing a 15-turbine scheme near Bonchester Bridge.

A glossy booklet had been posted through doors which invites residents to one of three public displays next month – being held in Bonchester, Hawick and Denholm - where feedback is being sought on proposals for Birneyknowe Wind Farm. Banks Renewables is offering locals the chance to meet its team and ask questions, as well as view the plans and learn about opportunities for local businesses.

The first is at Bonchester Bridge’s William Laidlaw Memorial Hall on Tuesday, March 4; then Hawick Rugby Club the following day (March 5); and Denholm Village Hall on Thursday, March 6. All the venues will be open from 3pm till 7pm.

Banks Renewables is currently preparing its planning appication, which will be submitted to the Scottish Government’s Energy Consents Unit in the spring. The application will also be formally considered by Scottish Borders Council.
