Bar found to be unlicensed

POLICE have revealed that they had to close down an unlicensed bar in Newcastleton.

During a report at a meeting of the village’s community council, PC Brian Murray said they were called to a function in the village hall in December at which a bar was in operation without authorisation. It was shut down immediately, and those involved have been reported to the licensing department.

The community beat officer also warned of metal and fuel thefts – the most recent being a large amount of coal stolen from a property in Buccleuch Terrace.
