Bank’s cake shop for a day

The Hawick branch of the Royal Bank of Scotland is throwing open its doors to support new businesses – and a local good cause is also set to benefit from the RBS initiative.

Fiona Lackenby, of Ancrum, is hoping to taste success with her new venture, Cakes Defined, and the bank has agreed to her setting up a ‘mini cake shop for the day’ inside its premises at 31 High Street, where sweet-toothed Teries can buy carrot cake, chocolate cake, muffins and brownies.

It is hoped that some of the proceeds from the event, depending on its success, will be donated to the Escape Youth Cafe.

Fiona, and her cakes, will be in the Hawick branch from 9.15am next Thursday (April 17).
