A man was left with multiple scratches after being assaulted by his partner.

Twenty-nine-year-old Aimee Jones of Melrose Court appeared from custody at Jedburgh Sheriff Court last Friday and admitted assaulting her partner at their home on June 20.

The couple, who have been living together for some 18 months, had been “drinking heavily” prior to the offence.

“They returned home at about 1am and, for no apparent reason, she launched into an attack on him, punching him several times to the head, and scratching his face, neck and chest,” explained prosecutor Kate McGarvey.

The victim left but returned following a phone conversation with Jones and trouble flared once more.

“The same thing happened again,” said Ms McGarvey, “and she called him a pussy for not fighting back.”

Sentencing was deferred until July 26 for reports.

Jones was released on bail, although a condition was attached that she must not co-habit with her partner.
