Work is progressing on the erection of a bandstand at Wilton Lodge Park, with only three months to go until completion of the stunning structure.

Although a name for the £150,000 focal point of the park’s regeneration has yet to be decided – with suggestions for it to be named after the late Provost Zandra Elliot – an official opening date has been pencilled in for Sunday, April 26.

The blue and gold traditional design, which includes an original putting green flag within the metal cast, now also boasts columns and beams, with contractors Lost Art, from Lancashire, forging ahead to complete the project.

Councillor Davie Paterson, SBC’s environmental services executive member, said: “The bandstand was vital to the successful bid for Heritage Lottery funding and will be a great asset to Wilton Lodge Park.”
