Appeal for more helpers at carnival

THE future of Burnfoot Carnival could be at risk unless more volunteers come forward.

That is the warning which has been issued by Burnfoot Community Council chairman Richard Knight as he launches an appeal for extra helpers ahead of this summer’s event.

He told the Hawick News: “We are looking for people who would like to help out the organising of Burnfoot’s biggest annual event. Many hands make light work, so please come along and pledge support for the day.”

And with the July extravaganza of music and etertainment getting bigger and better since its return to the local calendar seven years ago, he cautioned: “If we cannot get enough people to help organise and run the carnival, then it might not be possible to hold it, so come along and keep it going.”

Interested members of the public are invited to attend the first meeting for the 2012 carnival in Burnfoot Community School staffroom on Thursday at 7pm.
