HAWICK will be well represented at today’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Edinburgh Half Marathon event with 26 hardy souls ready to pound the streets of the capital in aid of the Anthony Mundell Memorial Fund.
The group received a month’s free membership at Think Fitness and have been given coaching by the town’s own marathon man Mark Lyons.
And they will be joined by AMMF founders Keith and Roslyn Mundell with hopes high of raising up to £3,000.
Roslyn said: “The response has been fantastic. I think everyone was worried about how they’d get on but they’ve all done really well with their training and I think a few have surprised themselves.”
The 13.1-mile route starts and finishes in Holyrood Park and takes participants through some of the most scenic areas of Edinburgh, including views of Arthur’s Seat, the Scottish Parliament, The Queen’s Palace at Holyrood, Edinburgh Castle, the Meadows, Grassmarket, Cowgate and Portobello Promenade.
Sainsbury’s has kindly provided items for a goody bag for each runner on completion of the race, while there will also be an AMMF stall and support from family and friends .
