Diversions are in place in the Old Town.
Diversions are in place in the Old Town.

Essential maintenance to improve the road surface on the A7 at Unthank and Mosspaul will take place from 8pm to 6am each night from Sunday-Friday, November 1-6.

The work will require a full closure of the carriageway with a signed diversion route in place. Road users travelling northbound will be diverted onto the B7201 near Canonbie, B6357, A6088 and A698 into Hawick where they will rejoin the A7.

Southbound traffic will follow the same route in the opposite direction.

The road will be closed to all vehicles from Arkleton (8km north of Langholm to the Mosspaul Hotel).

Access to the hotel will be maintained at all times.

The 95/95A/X95 First Bus rail link service will operate normally and will be escorted through the works when it is safe to do so.

All efforts will be made to minimise any delays but road users are asked to plan their journey accordingly.

An Amey spokesperson said: “Around 2,000 vehicles use this section of trunk road each day, and this investment with a combined value of £226,000 will ensure it continues to operate safely and reliably for years to come.”
