Pupils from primary six and seven at Burnfoot Community School have been putting their best feet forward for a new daily exercise routine.
The Daily Mile, pioneered by Elaine Wyllie from St Ninian’s Primary in Stirling, sees the youngsters walk, jog or run a mile around the school grounds every day.
Primary seven teacher Roddy Graham said: “The pupils are really enjoying taking part in the Daily Mile, come hail, rain or shine.
“Teachers and other staff members have also joined in with this programme and have noticed increased levels of fitness among pupils, as well as themselves.”
Head teacher Janice Chapman said: “ The Daily Mile is being run by schools across Hawick and across Scotland, and the health benefits for children of being fit and active are well known.
“The plan is to spread this across the whole of school with all classes participating.”
