1815 Robert Pringle establishes Pringle of Scotland, producing hosiery and underwear

1922 Private company called Robert Pringle & Son is incorporated

1923 Future chairman Willie Mactaggart joins firm as trainee manager

1934 First appearance of the Scottish rampant lion on a garment label

1949 Four-storey extension built onto Rodono Mill

1955 Building of new branch factory in Berwick started

1960 Pringle of Scotland became public company

1962 Glebe Mill is purchased for 27,000

1967 Pringle acquired by Joseph Dawson (Holdings) Ltd for 5,800,000

1969 Otto Weisz, designer and father of the twin set, retires

1970 Computer used for first time to track work as it flowed through factories

1976 Rodono shuts. Machinery goes to Glebe and administration to Victoria Mill

1981 Golfer Nick Faldo signed his first contract

1984 Annual company turnover up to 29million

1985 New factory opened in Arbroath, company produced 60,000 garments a week

1989 Faldo Collection of leisurewear launched

2000 Hong Kong-based Fang Brothers take over. Kim Winser new chief executive

2002 10million 'castle' store opened in New Bond Street, London

2008 Proposal on table to close Glebe with loss of 80 manufacturing jobs
