Eight ramblers set off from Newmill on a beautiful sunny day for a good Sunday walk. They traversed over the Vales, passed Branxholme Loch, then on to an old Roman settlement.
Heading for Todgehaugh farm the group encountered a bull, cows and calves on their walk. Some of the walkers were a bit stressed at having to pass by the bulls. At Highchesters a very kind couple allowed the group to have lunch in their garden, where they were entertained by their youngest son.
The party of walkers then continued over the hills to Wiltonburn, but as it was such a nice day, they decided to go over Wiltonburn hill, then down to Wilton Dean, through the park and home.
The next 50+ walk is scheduled for Sunday, June 23 in the Lake District.
