Hawick’s own Gillian Smith shared a bit of the limelight with her Scotland internationalist partner and fellow Teri Stuart Hogg on Saturday, during the Six Nations match against France. Gillian, pictured at Stade de France alongside Ross Ford’s girlfriend, Laura Hardie (left), and Greig Laidlaw’s wife, Rachel (right), wearing a Johnstons rug from Stuart’s mum and dad, told the Hawick News: “Just after scotland scored the try our phones went crazy and it apparently we had been caught on TV in the crowd! We are the ‘borders gang’ when we go on the trips and games with the scotland partners. No one else understands our language!”
She added: “The atmosphere at the game was amazing, it’s a great stadium and we all were jumping up and down cheering on the boys.”
Gillian now lives in Glasgow and works as a florist. Scotland were defeated 15-8.
