Border Club President and Chairman David Chapman, above, welcomed club members and guests to Hawick on Friday for the annual Burns supper. In his opening remarks, Mr Chapman reminded the capacity audience that this was “indeed a special year for the club as it was celebrating its 125th year”. He then continued to chair the evening as only the Scocha front man can, with his own brand of wit, humour and, as always, great banter with the assembled guests.
The address to the haggis was impeccably carried out by Mr Chapman. This was followed by a superb traditional Burns supper prepared and served by Nick Powolny’s team from Hawick Golf Club.
Reflecting on the whole evening, Mr Chapman said: “We are truly a privileged town to be able to celebrate the national Bard with ‘gid freends and in such a historic club as the Border Club. Jed Murray wud hev been prood.”
