It has been revealed that the developer hoping to open a caravan park next to the Walled Garden plans to include luxury timber lodges in their application.
It was reported in the Hawick News earlier this month that the idea of a camping and caravan site at the back of Wilton Lodge Park - previously mooted in 2009 - had taken a huge step forward with confirmation that a developer was keen to progress with a proposal, and now firm details of an impending application have been confirmed by Scottish Borders Council.
A spokesperson told the Hawick News: “Plans for a holiday park at Wilton Lodge Park are progressing following a meeting with a holiday park development company, local councillors and council officers. The directors of the holiday park development company are finalising their plans in anticipation of submitting a planning application this summer.”
And they added: “The proposal consists of predominately luxury timber lodges as well as offering pitches for touring caravans and camping. The proposal is for a year round attraction which will encourage visitors to Hawick.”
Local consultation will take place with all interested parties during the planning application process.
