If you reckon your bold new Lexus LC500 could do with even more emboldening, you might want to get onto the Liberty Walk crew in Japan

Lexus is going down a pretty strong new styling direction these days in an attempt to get people to reconsider their offerings. Any doubts about the fact that they’re serious can be quickly allayed by a two-second glimpse at the new LC500. Not everyone will like it, but an even smaller number will be able to ignore it.

Which makes you wonder why anyone might want to take it on such a distinctive base vehicle for further embellishment, but that’s exactly what Japanese customising firm Liberty Walk has done. Moreover, they’ve doubled down with not one but two takes on the Lexus super-coop. You’ve got to admire their gumption.

Liberty Walk is based in the eastern suburbs of Nagoya, which is also the home town of Lexus HQ. Liberty’s trademark features of rivets, ducktail spoilers, and serious wheel camber angles are well in evidence on both variations.

You can buy these wide-body kits in either fibreglass or CFRP, and in individual component form. That ducktail, for a start, can be had from $2000. For the whole kit you’re looking at a starting price of $13,380 for the grey one in fibreglass and $15,650 for the second one, shown here in white. They don’t look that different but there you go. The carbon-plastic equivalents are $16,740 and $19,440.

Add that to the LC500’s £90k start price and you’ve got yourself one reassuringly expensive but also very distinctive machine, even without the optional add-ons of different wheels and air suspension. Just the job for waking up the residents of Knightsbridge of an evening.
