Walkers ready to take to hills in tribute to the late Nan Lyle

FRIENDS and family of the late Nan Lyle are being invited to put their best foot forward in her memory next month.

A four-mile walk – in tribute to the life and work of Nan, who died at the start of last year – will be held on Sunday, June 26.

It begins at the Moor car park at 1pm and walkers will assemble on Whitchesters Hill for the unveiling of a cairn, which is being built with signposts and sayings in Nan’s life inscribed on it.

Co-organiser Angela Cumming said: “Nan’s family and the group organising the walk would like to invite all her friends and acquaintances from her many activities to join them on that Sunday to take part in a fitting tribute to Nan who loved to be out and about in the hills surrounding Hawick.”

To take part go to www.nan-lyle.org; phone 371185, 372085 or 374491; or by post to Lindsey Knox, Riversdale, Slitrig Crescent, Hawick.
