Get up and Tie your Fingers Eyemouth is a stunning new community led production, based on the original Ann Coburn play, which uses song, storytelling and dance to tell the story of how the people of Eyemouth recovered following the 1881 Fishing Disaster.

Over 50 members of the community of all ages have been working together to create, produce and perform this unique production which highlights the courage and resilience of the communities affected by tragedy, in which 189 fishermen, most of them from Eyemouth, lost their lives, leaving behind 93 widows and 267 children.

The families had looked on helplessly as the boats, trying to make their way home to escape a violent storm, were capsized or smashed on the Hurkar Rocks at the harbour entrance.

A new choir has been created for the production and local guides are going to be illustrating the storytelling with dance and physical theatre.

Get up and Tie your Fingers will be performed on Saturday, June 25, and Sunday, June 26, in Eyemouth Parish Church at 7pm, with an additional matinee on Saturday, June 25, at 3pm.

Tickets cost £3 (children 12 and under free) - available from Eyemouth Museum and Occasions or Eventbrite (type in Get up and Tie Your Fingers Eyemouth).
