A FULL house is expected at the Textile Towerhouse on Wednesday night for a special event celebrating Hawick’s iconic Pringle brand.

Students from the prestigious Central St Martins College of Art and Design in London will talk about a project to rebuild the archives of Hawick’s famous firm - and there will be an opportunity to see the exhibition entitled ‘From Hawick to Hollywood, the Women who Wore Pringle’, currently on display. Townsfolk are invited to learn the story of the project so far which will be told using images of the garments, photographs and archive material, as well as from former Pringle workers who have helped. The students will talk about the history of the firm and how fashion education can help brands make sense of their heritage to appeal to a new generation of customers. Students will also speak to an invited audience of pupils, teachers and further education students from across the region.

Shona Sinclair, Curator at Borders Textile Towerhouse, added: “We’re delighted to continue working in collaboration with St Martins and Pringle. From this project has already come the popular exhibition which has raised interest internationally and is proving to be a great draw for visitors.”

There is no charge but booking is advisable. Telephone 377615 or email textiletowerhouse@scotborders.gov.uk The event is from 7pm until 8.30pm.
