POPULAR entertainer Darren Johnstone (pictured) is heading home for a special gig at Base Niteklub next month.
Based in Carlisle, the 32-year-old former Burnfoot and high school pupil, who has appeared at the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, has received rave reviews for his unique brand of music, which takes a hilarious, light-hearted look at everyday life.
A previous winner at the town’s Teribuskers Festival, Darren (pictured) has also played at two local weddings and starred at a number of charity events.
He told the Hawick News: “The lyrical content and subject matter are things that most people can relate to. All that I want to do is entertain people with my music and let them have a wee chuckle at the sometimes risque content.”
Darren will be joined by local musician Mandy Rayner, an up-and-coming talent who has been travelling the country in search of a break.
The gig is taking place on May 13. Doors open at 7.30pm, first act at 8.30pm. Entry is £4 on the door. For more information contact Base or call 07584043412.
