TERI dancer Jenni Dobbie was in step recently to clinch a podium finish at the Freestyle World Championships at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool.
After securing qualification for the finals at the Edinburgh championships in February this year, the 20-year-old, who does her training at Derek Nicol’s Dancemasters studio in Restalrig, Edinburgh, competed against seven other girls at the prestigious event in Lancashire.
Performing her solo spot, which involved a series of acrobatic moves, with the judges’ eyes watching her closely, Jenni, who had only ever made the quarters and semi-finals of the competition in the past, finished third.
The former Drumlanrig and high school pupil told the Hawick News this week: “To be in the final was my greatest achievement to date and to get an incredible third place was amazing. A podium place at the World Championships is just fantastic.
“The girl who won was from Ireland, the runner-up was English, so it was a fantastic result for myself and for Scotland.”
Jenni’s success at the World Championships comes just two weeks after winning her section in the grand final of the Elite Freestyle Championships held in Phwelli, North Wales.
