HAWICK United are preparing to defend their trophy in the battle of Britain return match against AFC Stockport.
The Tangerines won the inaugural game in Hawick last year 8-4 and will be taking to the field tomorrow at Burnage Rugby Club in Greater Manchester looking for more of the same.
Captain Kevin Strathdee (pictured) said: “The boys are really looking forward to the game and especially the night out after it. I will, however, have it drilled into them that we are the holders and we will not be playing it as a friendly. It’s Scotland against England which gives the game a bit more extra spice.”
The link-up is a result of the friendship between Strathdee and former United player Mark Douglas, who is now the manager of AFC Stockport.
Mark explained: “I used to play for United when I lived in Hawick so we thought it would be a fitting tribute to amateur football if we had a cross border cup game each summer.”
