Three-year ban for Rio

A HAWICK United player has been banned for three years after spitting in the face of an opponent.

A Scottish Amateur FA spokesman confirmed a disciplinary hearing at Hampden on May 31 handed Rio Rashrash the 36 month suspension following his sending off by referee Craig Martin against Stow on April 9.

The SAFA spokesman added: “The player did not appear at the meeting but submitted a letter.”

Rashrash has seven days to appeal upon receiving his sentence through the post.

The centre half, who has also played for Hawick Royal Albert, could have faced a maximum ban of five years for the offence, according to the Border Amateur Football Association’s rules.
