TALENTED teenagers are being given the chance to rise to the top in their chosen sports thanks to Hawick’s Think Fitness gym.
Whether it is on the football or rugby pitch, the golf course, rallying or racing circuit or athletics track, youngsters can shine thanks to the offer of free memberships.
The O’Connell Street gym launched the scheme last year, which benefited top trio Jay Lamb, Carly Noble, and Brogan Anderson.
Through gym work, motocross star Jay has been able to recover from a broken leg, while footballers Carly and Brogan, who play for the Hearts under-17 team, have used the facilities to gain fitness.
Carly said: “We travel to train in Edinburgh twice a week, and the gym has helped Brogan and I get fitter and stronger.”
Brogan added: “We finished third in the league this year, which is great because we’re up against a lot of top teams. Using the gym has definitely helped our fitness a lot.”
Carly and Brogan have progressed well since beginning their footballing days at Drumlanrig Primary School and their future looks bright.
To continue the exciting initiative, Think Fitness is searching for three more deserving candidates aged 14-16 for free membership in 2013.
Names put forward will go before a panel of judges ahead of a final decision being taken.
Nominations (to be received by midnight on December 31) can be sent by email to firstname.lastname@example.org, by telephone on 379289, on Facebook at www.facebook.com/thinkfitness.hawick, or by post to Think Fitness, 3 O’Connell St, Hawick, TD9 9HT.
Nominations should have full details, including the specific sport and the candidates’ potential.
