TWO goals from Kevin Strathdee helped steer United to a well deserved home win.

Playing some good football, United dominated for long periods, and only their failure to cash in scoring chances, plus a string of splendid saves from the Legion keeper, prevented the Tangerines from winning by a bigger margin.

Strathdee netted the only goal of the first half when firing home after latching onto a fine through-ball from Ross Scott.

Following the changeover, new United signing Steven Aries, from Hawick Legion, put the homesters further ahead.

United kept up the good work and Strathdee added another with a well-struck free-kick.

A YOUNG Rovers side were rarely in the hunt and ended up being thrashed in Berwickshire.

The home side netted the two opening goals of the match, but Chay Caldwell raised Rovers’ hopes by reducing the leeway when latching onto a Lewis Telfer pass before shooting home.

A minute from the interval Tweedmouth, however, grabbed a third, and within two minutes of the second period had extended their lead even further.

Tweedmouth then went on to score two more before the final whistle.
